They use a burnisher and draw it across the metal free hand.Looks nice and gives oil a little "grip" for lubrication purposes.

Regarding the aperture sight on the G/H Low Wall. Is anybody making sights like this these days? Thanks.

Lyman markets a non-windage version similar to the Lyman peep on the G&H but IMO it suffers in comparison to an original in good shape. Marble's markets a windage-sdjustable version that IMO is far, far superior to the current Lyman.

This was on my watchlist, part of me wanted to bid on it, but I asked the seller for better pictures of the engraving and he
didn't get back to me until after the auction was over. I would have had to restock it, but I am not sure if I missed out on
something good or marginal. Your thoughts?

You done good doc.

Of course, my opinion might be a bit suspect but I would count that a good miss.

I agree with Joe on the merits of the current Lyman tang sight vs. the Marbles. Have both; the Marbles is worth the extra $$ for sure.

I saw that one too. At least you got something back from the seller.
I wanted some info including the bore condition, caliber(that would be nice!) & Ser#,,got nothing.
Can't quite read the ser# on the recv'r but I think it's a L/N.

A restock project for sure and some nice options already there. But w/no further info,,I pass on those.
Maybe I miss out,,but maybe I just miss out on alot of headaches and problems too.
There's lots of project guns around.
