Things have been a little slow lately, so I thought I would rerun this thread with some interesting rifles that I did not buy but were on my watch list. Like this Dubiel, Dubiel This post-war Mauser sporter with a Noske scope Mauser 98 And this G&H single shot G&H Feel free to add comments and other rifles.

I like the Dubiel a lot, but not the other 2. All appear greatly overpriced, an opinion reinforced by the lack of bids. I'd be amazed if the stocks on the low wall were actually made by G&H, looks like some of my low walls..... Regards, Joe

The Dubiel was not made in Sherman, TX. It was most likely made in Ardmore. Joe was a good friend of mine and I am confident that the rifle was made before he moved to Texas to run the Ranger Arms Co. in Gainesville. TX and the Dubiel Arms Co. in Sherman, TX.

I'll admit to being stymied by the caliber of the Low Wall. What is a '.22Express'? No mention of it in Landis (but admittedly I didn't have time to look too hard).

The Mauser sold for $525, reasonable price, I'd say.

22 Express is early G&H name for .22-Hornet.
Dubiel was made by John, not Joe.

I think in this market with a repaired stock that amount that one might be there for a while.

If someone were looking for a Dubiel, they would be hard pressed to find a better one than the above rifle. Very nice rifle in what appears unaltered condition. Hope it finds a good home.

BTW, on the Dubiel, how did they treat the bolt and follower to get them to look the way they do?
