In Scotland (like all of the UK) you need a Shotgun certificate to own a shotgun. This requires both a little 'effort' and a modest cost to get and needs renewing every 5 years. Therefore generally ownership is confined to those who really want/need to own a shotgun.
Most major towns have good shops including Edinburgh, Inverness, and Blairgowrie (those being places I can recall visiting gun shops).
Prices in Scotland will not differ much from elsewhere in the UK with the usual 'UK available' range of new and second hand guns available. At the 'high end' one might expect to see a few more local 'best' guns such as Dickson etc.
