If alot of people didn't think the firing pin holes in the breech face were for oiling, there wouldn't be much of a problem.

Spray lubes have spoiled alot of stocks. Easy to put it on,,alot of it and make everything look dripping wet shiny to put it away.

It's not a gear box inside there,,it doesn't need much lube at all to work right. Prober maint is more important than sloshing it with oil every time you handle it. But the latter is easier to do and the wood suffers.

Stock down or the gun lying down for me just cause it's convenient.
I don't have enough lube inside any of them to bother the wood.
A good arguement for a grease instead of oil I guess.
