I don't know about elsewhere but can attest that around here I get a lot of "what is it" questions & peculiar looks when I haul out my drilling. I can't tell you how many times my German double in 43 Mauser has been called "a neat old .410 double barrel" followed by the exclamation "that's a rifle?!". My Reilley in 500 BPE is often accused of being a 28 bore....and no one to this day has figured out the Jones underlever or the similar forearm release on the German double until I show it to them. Don't bother mentioning a Vierling or Cape Gun...all you'll get is dumb looks and a "huh?". Actually kinda fun....lol!
