Thanks Daryl: I knew about arcaded fences; had a Woodward for a while and they're one of the most distinctive and elegant features I've seen on a sporting gun; I've seen Greeners with smaller ones, too; I was thrown when you talked about the "barrel lumps" - I understand the lumps to be the bits which mate the barrels to the action; the balls or fences to be the bits which contain the pins at the rear of the breech.
