These look nice but there might be two problems:

1. No full-length zipper. Guys with feet as big as mine would never make the bend.

2. They are rated only to -4 degrees C. Not enough for a harsh climate.

When I was a kid in Japan, we called em "machi boots". I don't know where the name came from. I should ask my mother before she passes.

They were very cheap. I think the black rubber boots in most feed and hardware stores are the same basic boots as those machi boots we used to get.

Pretty much the other extreme end of the cost spectrum from these $500 mud boots being discussed here. No doubt made in China these days and probably no more than a $20 bill in a feed store.

Funny, I googled Machi Boots and there's a new goochi company that makes expensive womens shoes and boots. grin

When I bought Chasseurs and Global Trackers last year, Circle Seven Outpost had the best price - and Will was just a great guy to deal with.

Good folks at Circle Seven-family owned. I go in there several times a year.

Good points. I do not like the zipper ones myself, and I've not had a problem getting them on or off but I have pretty small feet for my size. Also as you said they do not do well below freezing... I found that out the hard way.

For prices while its a crap shoot Sierra Trading post about 1-2 a year will have some great deals on a couple of times of Le Chameau boots.
