I have met Ivano Tanfoglio enough times, once we had facing booths in an exhibition, to regard him as a friend. He is one of the most forward thinking gunmakers I have ever met. In addition to being a top maker he is also a CAC CAM wizard and consultant to several Gardone firms and he was a collaborator of Dakota arms.
I have been to his workshop north of Gardone. Everything is top class, the machining, the fitting, the engraving. While there I watched a fitter spend a whole day on the final polishing in, and I mean polishing in, not smoking in, of an over under. And a lady engraver had come from France to execute a special pattern on a side by side.
Chuck, you got yourself a good gun.

Very pretty gun, Chuck. Please report on it some more after receiving and shooting it.
I'm trying out my new 30" Dickinson .410 S x S this afternoon on a sunflower/dove field. I know I could kill more birds with my 20, but numbers are not the driver today.

I'll post back on the gun later. I'm anxious to see it. I suspect I'll be bending the stock a 1/4" down to get it right for me. Question for those familiar with the company: Were all the guns bespoke or were they stocked guns? Here's a 410 Ferlib that was in G&H's gunroom a few years ago. I wrestled with whether to purchase this one. The barrels were a bit shorter than I would have preferred. I thought the engraving was very attractive, reminded me of some of the Ithaca patterns. I let it slip away. Stan, That Dickinson with 30" bbls sounds like it'll be sweet on the dove field. Let us know.

At the small annual capacity of Ferlib, even dealer orders are likely to be bespoke, ie made to personal dimensions.
