There's no way I could justify $500 boots.

King, the only way I can is I am in the shoe business and for the last 30 years I have paid next to nothing for most of my dress shoes, casual shoes and athletic shoes. The only kind of shoes I ever pay retail on (most of the rest range between free and 40% off wholesale) are hunting boots. No matter what I pay, I'm still ahead of the game.

As well, a big part of my business is in orthopedic footwear, so having something that fits properly AND does what it is supposed to do, is a pretty high priority.

Also, what I think is funny is that for all the grief we give women about shoes, this thread is up to 50 posts.

Raimey, your kids look like they are having a great time. I have a 7 year old boy. Sure is fun age. He was just giving me poop last night because I don't take him scouting for game enough. He's was mad because he was with him mum yesterday while I was scouting turkey.

trw999 - Not quite. Definitely not at all like the first - there's not an inch of cordura, all leather.

More like the second, but without a zipper or "tightening strap" up top.

Very interesting to see these boots being made and marketed in the UK. Thanks very much for sharing.

Now if I ever need to replace mine I'll know where to go. I haven't been too "gentlemanly" in the treatment of mine, but they're still rock solid, admittedly with some scuffed up leather. Great product.

King - At the time my wife bought mine their retail cost was $425, and she got them at a terrific discount, a tad over $200.

With my back and sciatica these boots offer incredibly good support, and I'm thankful every season I wear them.

Sometimes things can actually go your way!

O.K, you've convinced me. I'll just have to be more conscientious about picking up pop and beer cans along the road.

I have had a pair for many years-bought them through Robin Hollow when I took the trip down to RI for the Vintagers the year they where had it in Addisonville. The sizing so be sure to try on several pair.I had them send me 2 different ones and sent back the ones I didn't buy.
They where "only" 375 then as I recall but well worth it fro mud season here in NH.Goodness knows my wife has many times that in her shoe closet and I suspect many here do as well !

I have a set Le Chameau St. Huberts for the past 10 years. The St. Huberts are not sold in the US, but they are one of the most common hunting boots one sees in France. Best pair of rubber boots I've had, you are can really walk far in them unlike most of the others I've had in the past.
