Well, I've got the best pair of Le Chameau boots you've never heard of.
A few years back, 5 or 6 I guess, my wife bought me a pair of Le Cameau boots as a Christmas present. They're all leather, dark brown, part smooth and part nubuck, insulated. Vibram lug soles.
They're absolutely fantastic. I wade through swamps and stay dry, clamber over timber and rocks, bust through viney prickly tangly grouse cover, walk through fields - you name it.
I guess you could say they're kind of on the idea of those Irish boots DuBarry. But I've NEVER and I mean NEVER seen them advertised ANYwhere.
My wife got them from Sierra Trading Post, that discount outdoor gear operation that will mail you 8 catalogs a week once you're on their list.
My guess used to be that they were originally designed to compete with those Dubarrys, but for whatever reason got pulled back from production and Le Chameau never marketed them. Maybe had a good amount in overstock and sold 'em cheap to various outlets.
Anyway, I love 'em. I'd intended to get a pair of the traditional standard rubber & leather boots but kept putting it off for whatever reason. Who knows, maybe I'll still end up getting a pair someday, but i can't imagine the ones I've got crapping out on me anytime soon.
