When I started shooting shotguns again about 12yrs ago I learned to shoot gun down [ mount ]. They were SxS's and a friend also went to them. I was trying to shoot guns with modern stock diamensions and it wasn't working. The friend had aquired one with a lot of drop and said " hey, this is easy, I can't lift my head because it's already up". I now have around ten old Parkers and Remingtons all with 2" DAC and 3" DAH. I don't care how high my eye is above the comb, as long as it's parallel to the comb. I don't mount the gun to my cheek, but half way between the jaw and cheek. My head is up and gun pointing where I'm looking. I hear over and over " oh darn, I picked my head up ". I tell em I can fix that - let me bend your stock down. Paul
