Terry, not knowing condition other than well used....I've watched them sell from $400.00 up to about $800.00....nicer ones not run hard usually sell up into the fifteen hundreds or so and everywhere in between......

Just watched a nice Field Regular Frame 16 made in 1898 with lot's of color and great wood with 30" bbls sell for $1985.00....all original and uncut.....no pad, M/F etc.

When you say well used, that usually means cracked wood behind the lock plates, some barrel dents and whatever else....?

Good Luck with it...

Best,

Doug

A 16ga Elsie will almost certainly be short-chambered unless it's a very late gun.

Larry is correct that if the gun was made before WWII it probably has 2 9/16" chambers, but not all of them do. I have a 16 built in 1933 with factory 2 3/4" chambers and it is so marked. For a using 16 gauge LC Smith, I would not hesitate an instant in having the chambers and forcing cones let out to 2 3/4" for ease of buying shells.

Just for you coach...it was a 00 Grade, serial number 60500 range...1898.....which is the same "grade" quality as a field grade regular frame post 1913............anything else....?..

Doug,
Don't want to come across as "picking nits", but simply trying to avoid confusing those who aren't familiar with Smiths. You wouldn't say Trojans and V Grades are the same "grade" quality, would you?

Coach:

L.C. Smith Grade names...pre 1913....vs....post 1913......

On "outward appearance" standard pre '13 Hunter Arms guns had split upper tangs, bushed firing pins, double screw trigger guards, rib stamped signature line and POW grips etc.....

I believe Parker Trojans and V grades were different forgings entirely.....i.e. frame side profiles.....?

Parker Trojan....

Parker VH....
