Or was that a duck from the old Groucho Marx show sprayed with gold paint? Wednesday 25/Jan/2012- front page center of the WSJ-- Germany's "Zafftig-Frau" Angela Merkel gets the "bird" at a Berlin carnival society reception. Just wondered if she was a member of the Merkel gun makers family? In the same wise as I might wonder if either Bonnie Parker (without Clyde Barrow) was related to the famed bros. Parker, or perhaps Kate (God Bless America) Smith related to Lyman Cornelius Smith- what's in a name, hey??

Don't see too many subscribers to the WSJ waiting at bus stops, Ellena--some Field & Stream. Sports Illustrated, local daily papers, etc. I've been a subscriber to the Journal for many years, and as George Smith Patton Jr. once replied to a Stars & Stripes reporter, when asked about the Bible he had on his nightstand and if he found time to read it-- "Every &^%$#@* Day" was Patton's quick reply" and that's my position re: WSJ!! I recommend it highly. RWTF

No, I wondered if you meant to post in the next category and stopped one short. My Grandfather was a huge fan of the Groucho show & all looked forward to the appearance of the duck.

No, Angela Merkel is apparently not related to the Merkel gunmakers' family. Her father was a minister who was assigned by is church to a parish in the old East Germany and she grew up there. But no relation.
Some of the Narren carciaturing her have been exceptionally brutal over the years.

And being a Roman Catholic, nice to know that The Holy Father is a native German. But his pet dog is named "Chico" and he had to leave his hunden behind in Germany, as the Vatican does not allow pets of any sort inside its perimeters. Can't have those fancy Swiss guards a steppin' in der schiesse, now can we???
