Mark emailed me last night that he had been busy trapping coyotes and bobcats and would FedEx a check today. I'll post a follow-up tomorrow.

No excuse.
Check should have been sent six weeks ago, as you say he told you.
He deserves the bad press.
Tell him to try that crap with a credit card company or a utility company and report how far he gets with it.

I'm glad he finally decided to pony up the $85. Sir, it sounds like you did him a huge favor by selling him a Win Model 21 stock for the good ole boy price of $85 bucks....CHEAP.

He oughta send the stock back; he didn't deserve it. That's beyond slack.

I received a check from Mark today via Fed Ex. The amount was for an extra $15, maybe for my trouble. My unusual first name (John) was misspelled on the check and crossed thru and corrected and my last name misspelled. We'll see if Mark's bank honors it.
Thanks to all of you for listening to this unpleasant story. I hope it will be of value to someone.
John

Why is it every time some yokel decides not to fly straight there's always someone who pipes in that he's quite possibly in some dire straits? He's in the hospital with an inflamed testicle. He took the dog's pills and can't remember his own name much less yours.
All those explanations are 'possible', but isn't it far more plausible to draw the conclusion he's just a plain old deadbeat?

I've read all this "Sturm und Drang" with interest- since the $45 "learning curve" I experienced some 3 years ago- can't remember the dude's name, believe he lived in Wilton CT (another numbnut nutmegger I guess)but I wrote it off to the tuition costs that old Benny Franklin's school of experiences charges- Now I get the funds "up front" prior to shipping, and NO personal checks- only Bank certified-- I don't know this box birder (Audubon background maybe?) from Adam's off ox, but as for being in "Dire Straits"-- that's a position only Mark Knoppfler can fill- "Sultans of Swing", "Walk of Life", etc.
