I have seen a few ROTTWEIL shotguns in the past, mostly competition O/U's. Haven't seen any published history on these guns, and didn't find much on Google.
Where were they made in the past? Are new ones made in Italy, and just have a german name?
Is anyone knowledgeable on these guns?
Jerry

The information about Rottweil in the linked item is somewhat incorrect.
Rottweil and RWS are part of the Dynamit Nobel group of companies based in Troisdorf, Germany. These companies have a very complex history and have been around for about a hundred fifty years. DN (Alfred Nobel of Nobel Prize fame)invented nitroglycerine and dynamite.
There are Rottweil and RWS guns sold that are mostly, if not entirely, made for the company by others. I have a Rottweil Olympia 72 that was made by Gamba.
Rottweil shotshells and RWS rifle ammunition are made in Fuerth-Stadeln Germany, using propellants manufactured by DN. I believe DN was also the inventor of non-corrosive priming (Sinoxid)
