OP Gordon W Member Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 59 Ohio	What type recoil pad did L C Smith put on the field grade guns. Just bought a 20ga (ser S 56705}and it has a plain red pad with no name. It looks too good to not be from the factory.

Your gun was manufactured about 1922 and an original pad was likely from the S.W. Silvers Co. of England. BTW: 20g LC chambers were not lengthened from 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" until sometime after 1930. OP Gordon W Member Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 59 Ohio	Thanks for your reply. This gun has the S FW infront of the ser # and I think it was made in 1950. The bbl flats are marked 2 3/4 chambers. The pad is something like a Hawkins but not the same and is much softer than Hawkins pads.
