edl's 28 also raises the question of having the checkering re-cut with more LPI than would originally be found on a V grade, unless it had been specially ordered that way from Meriden- not likely on a V, but...
Doesn't the checkering look much too fresh for a gun of that age and with cutoff barrels too???
