It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of the renowned Belgian master engraver René Delcour. Monsieur Delcour was born in 1930 and passed away on 15 January 2012.

Monsieur Delcour began his engraving career at the age of 13 at the Leon Mignon school in Liege. From 1946-1956 and 1958-1963 he engraved at FN/Browning. He became an instructor at Leon Mignon in 1963 and retired in 1992. He retired from engraving in 2000.

Monsieur Delcour leaves behind a body of exquisite work and knowledge transferred to such highly regarded engravers as Philippe Grifnée, Alain Lovenberg, and Kurt Horvath.

Requiescat in pace René Delcour.
