My bluing guru told me that stainless steel polished to a high gloss will not take bluing consistantly/evenly. The pores of the metal have to be "rough" in order for that material to blue well. I have seen Winchester and Remington factory barrels, stamped Stainless Steel, in the blued condition. However one time is all they get. The only way they will blue the second time is to be bead blasted and then hot tanked. That is what I have been told.
