I have a Holland & Holland .450 BPE Hammerless double rifle that was built for an Indian prince. The butt stock is OK, but the forend has some damage from the climate. I can make the forend fit OK and have the right dimensions by building it up in some locations with a filler. However I would like to have a new forend made. What is the cost to get one duplicated and who are recommended to do the work? I don't want somebody who says he will do it and six months later it hasn't been done.

LD1 I had Al Lind do a Mauser two piece takedown stock using my wood and he had it back to me in less than 2 weeks. Did a very good job also. 'al@allindgunmaker.com' http://www.allindgunmaker.com/

LD1: For a Holland of this grade, I'd contact Trevallion. Or... call Kirk Merrington and follow his advice. He has English stockers who can do the job properly.
The original forend may even be saved if not too bad.
If you are overly concerned about time, then you risk having the job bodgered by a second tier stocker.

Chuck Grace in Trinidad Colorado has complete duplicating facilities and is great to work with. His number is 719-846-9435. Good luck!

Duplicating relies on the stylus riding a pattern. Thus, an original with defects is typically filled with Bondo and shaped to desired dimensions.
While pantographs save many hours of handwork, many still remain. Donnie at Show-Me Gunstocks does fine duplicating, I don't know if he does finishing/checkering as well.

I had an experience, my fault, in which I had a stock duplicated in nice wood, with the same bad dimensions of the original...I forgot to give to give the new dimensions to the person...again my bad..expensive lesson
