I find it amazing that they got the caliber right. The gun will not be marked 9.3x72. It will be marked 8.7 or 8.8mm with likely no length marked. The Germans measure from land to land not grove to grove as we measure most of our calibers. Most drillings of turn of the century time frame are 9.3 x 72. Rather puny pencilly round but not bad for deer and boar. The 9.3x74 is a great round and was on the Luftwaffe survival drilling along with 12 Ga.
