Hi Tony,

Are you the historian that Kim of Atkins Grant and Lang contacted for information concering this gun? It is a small world and an even smaller double gun community!

Resepctfully,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I know Francis, he's a friend of mine and I'm helping him put the ledgers onto an electronic system. I've got the Atkin ledger here now. I don't think I'm the historian she is talking of. smile

I don't think Francis will mind my assisting you if I can.

I'd lay money that this gun has the original barrels. The records are just wrong. Re-barreling a 12 gauge frame with 10 gauge barrels would end up with a set of crappy barrels. These ones are anything but.

nial,

Thanks! This is a beautiful gun!

If this were a Parker Brothers shotgun, a set of larger bore barrels on the same frame usually produces a lighter gun due to less available barrel wall thickness available to match up to the action. Since this is my first British gun, I need experiance to tell me what I have.

PS: "Sir Henry" the Sidelock looked lonely being the only subject of the Queen in my safe so I indroduced him to Mr. Charles Boswell of the Boxlocks. smile

Respectfully,
Mark

It would be a nice gun if it wasn't for the poorly done stock job.

Other than the absence of drop points I don't think the stock job is too bad. I do think Tony is correct believing it a replacement esp since wood to metal fit is not perfect. Overall, I think Mark has a very nice gun. I know it could have a spot in my gun safe!

Nothing to do with the drop points...Look at the shoddy en-letting and the checkering looks like I did it. blush

The right guy could patch it up...but to make it truly right it would need to be restocked.

jOe: I agree, got a better look than my blackberry phone could provide and a pro did not make that stock, but I've seen a lot worse and a lot better.
