Jerry, your top photo makes it look as if there's something not quite right about the way the barrels and the standing breech mate up. Almost like the barrels are too small for the breech, or the breech too large for the barrels. Makes me wonder whether the barrels might have come off a different gun . . . unless that's typical of Remingtons??

Embarrasing moment for me a few years ago. Put the open set of 20 gauge barrels on my M21 for a grouse hunt. Pulled the trigger on the first bird up, and got only a "Snap" Finally figured out that I had put the 20 gauge barrels on a 12 gauge frame. Locked up fine, but the firing pin spacing meant that the shells didn't go off. Short grouse hunt, that.

I have a Remington 16g ejector gun that looks like that too. I often wondered if it were a 2 bbl set 12/16 or if the 16g barrels were fitted to a 12g frame.

They all have the excess at the top of the breech face.

This Remington Model 1900 has ejectors. While I'm not any kind of Remington expert, I read that more than half of the 1900's were made with ejectors.

Of the older American SxS's, I think the Remington 1894's and 1900's are somewhat undervalued and under-appreciated. They were a sound design, and many have endured.

The barrels, frame, and forend all have matching serial numbers.

Its a nice upland bird gun and handles well. I only shoot low-pressure 1 ounce handloads, about 1,150 fps.
