What's the best way to slug a barrel? Cerrosafve cast or, as Sherman Bell advised, pounding some lead roundball down the barrel, which it forms to.

Any Experience?

Cerrosafe works great for casting chambers, throat, or leade of rifle barrels. A pure lead slug can be pounded through if bore diameter remains unknown from the cast or looseness/tightness is suspected.

For a shotgun barrel, a gauge works best.

I've wondered this myself. My fear is damaging the barrel or even worse getting the slug stuck in the bore.

Have never had a lead slug in a shotgun barrel--it scares me to even think of it. I have done it in muzzleloading rifles and can tell you they CAN get stuck! Don't do it!!! Beg, borrow, or steal a bore gauge.
