Two alternative suggestions: 1) Cowboy cut the bbls. or 2) Flare muzzle ends like a blunderbuss.

Hot pink for the barrels and stock so your wife has a Barbie shotgun. Greg we've had unseasonably warm weather so far. You need to get out and do some more pheasant hunting. I know. See my post below (Game/Gun Thread), it has the Blanch in it. Be Good!!!!! Greg At this time of year most people count down the days till Christmas with joy. Instead I count down the days till the end of hunting season and I weep.
Practice safe eating. Always use a condiment.

Using permanent epoxy, afix a bayonet lug for a period Yataghan bayonet. Will work great and save your skin when using your gat on woodchucks and you run into the 'hog that both barrels won't stop.

Don't forget the sling swivelz, flashlight mount, and grenade launcher. Oh, and you will need a laser mount for slugz and buckshot.

Pistol grip or straight grip stock? If pistol grip, cut off the buttstock and hacksaw the barrels down to 16-17 inches and you'll have a fine self defense gun, or may work well for hip shooting close flushing ditch chickens.
You could still follow through with your options, with the exception of the waffle style recoil pad, although you could perhaps duct tape some foam around the grip to soften the recoil on the hand.

Nothing would complement the graceful lines of the lockplates quite so well as a full coverage bulino depiction of the 1977 Dallas Cowboys
