I recently acquired an elderly Winchester Model 12 16 gauge with a solid rib and fitted with a Weaver choke system (that's the one that makes the Cutts look attractive by comparison). In addition to its other flaws, it had been cut and fitted with a thick spacer and recoil pad. However, even with the spacer and pad, the stock is a little short and the pitch is wrong.

I'd like to find a replacement stock, preferably a take-off from a Model 12. The gun isn't worth a lot, so having a stock made for it is definitely out.

Anyone got an uncut take-off, preferably with a buttplate, that will fit and they'd be willing to part with?

Thanks.

40x,

If you are planning to refinish the wood, a 12 gauge stock fits regarding the inletting. It will require thinning or tapering about 1/16 to 3/32 of an inch off the sides and top to be flush with the action.

Just some thoughts.

Tony

I have found 12 gauge stocks need only be shaved a bit at the top. The sides and bottom need no attention.
