Have never met either Bill nor Rosalie in person, but we were/are close in a sense that I could not even begin to enunciate in print, verbosity notwithstanding. Wayne was the kinda friend to Bill all of us need; it took a part of him when he passed. I have never known a more human human than Bill.

Recently had a lovely conversation w/Rosalie who was at the time cooking some new recipies for Thanksgiving. Her laugh is both natural and musical and I'm fair close to a deaf guy [NOT shooting related]. Few and rare people leave indelible positive impressions. Both qualify, easy.

I never met Bill Wise but, thanks to fellow Parker Gun Collectors Association member and frequent contributer to this board, I own one of his shotguns. It is a well used Grade 3 Parker Top Action (hammer) 10 gauge with 32" barreld on a #4 frame. It is currently being completely restored by Brad Bachelder. It was reported that the gun was called the "Bismark" but the those Chesapeake Bay waterfowlers who heard its rath. I do not know if Bill ever shot the Bismark at a duck but I'd like to think that he had. Nevertheless, it will once again take ducks and when it does, I shall remember that a shotgunner far greater than I once owned the Bismark.

Most respectfully,
Mark

I have no idea why this surfaced after nearly three years but it certainly is OK by me. Seldom a day passes still that I don't think of Bill. A sorta "What would Bill think?" thing. Not a bad thing at all.

have a day

Yup, every year at the Vintagers, Linda and I have a "Remember Bill" conference with Bill's son Ben. To be honest, we don't talk much about Bill, but he is on our minds. It's comforting to know that he has such a legacy on the Delaware Shore.

Me too. Wife and I were in Lewes DE a few autumns back for the big Greyhound rally and I drove over to Har'nton to visit Bill. Saw the Matskas and heard about the "swivel gun" on the wheelchair. Bill was an awfully gracious guy for someone with a lifetime plateful of not quite all good. He "drove" out on his rear deck when I left; never saw him again but he sent me a joke by email just a few days before he was hospitalized. To this absent friend of so many,

jack

Doctor W - Thank you very much for contributing this. It brings a lot back and reminds me once again what a truly exceptional man Bill was.

Like others here, I'm sure, Bill extended himself and reached out to me, a stranger but for this site, and helped me through a rough period.

And the posts wherein he shared his extensive knowledge regarding the guns we loved were a treasure.

Need I even mention how much he is missed?
