Bernie went out of business in the early 90's and remained so for quite a few years. Turkish interests bought them out. They've been advertising guns for a few years now under the new ownership, and I've seen a few pop up on the Net. But nothing like the days when Stoeger and other American importers (including John Boyd) were bringing in Bernies on a regular basis.

Hammer or hammerless, the V. Bernies tend to be very good values on the used market.

Size definitely matters, when it comes to cocking both hammers on a double with one swipe of one's hand.
