Wow! You hear and read the "Honey & Smoke" description of a vintage gun's wood so many times it becomes old hat - until you REALLY see it. Great stuff, Tony! Honey and dark chocolate. Looks almost good enough to eat. What a great job you are doing,Tony. Gil

Very nice indeed! It's hard not to sit and stare at an island lock Purdey. Here's one that Bill Murphy remembers well: Curl

You have not just made an old girl look nice again, you have made her into a true beauty queen. Better yet you are not going to make her into a safe queen but a working girl as well. Job very well done.

Thanks guys, tbh the barrels have been a complete nightmare...they got dented in transit to me. So I had to have that taken out...striking up has been a nightmare too...the locks are dirty as hell and she just hasn't been looked after. Thankfully she is in working order. I hope I can do her justice on the rest of the process!
The wood is Turkish walnut believe it or not. My stocker is a very well known ex Churchills and Westley bloke, really really nice guy, super dry humour and I think one of the best in the land.
I'll post pics as she progresses! Cheers T

Hey, Tony. The checkering caught my eye. Have Brit stockers gone to pointed-up checkering as opposed to flat-top? I have been lead to believe this gun would have originally had flat-top. Is that , in your opinion correct? Or, is flat-top checkering just a matter of a little wear?
