The Sevlyt cloth was a registered tradename by D. Scott in 1893 and by very early 1897 there was some drama between D. Scott, a cat named Hallworth and Jones fella over dusters made on the Sevlyt theme but had the name Velutina??? Hallworth registered the tradename Velutina in 1887 while in the velvet trade. Maybe it was Jones that attempted to take out some sort of patent in 1891 but Hallworth had cornered the velvet market and the drama commenced. Anyway, it was touted as some upper rung cloth and gunmakers seem glad to add it to their list of accoutrements. Holland & Holland,
