Well, make me an offer on that quart can of carbide and I can move on. I have plenty of new one-liners stored up.

dave: your continued reference to a can of carbide got me to thinkin...again.

did you ever use a carbide lantern for night spear fishin and possum treein?

i did, and would be glad to tell some stories of life in the wilds of florida and alabama during the 50's, if you and others were really interested in such...however, due to the hostility of some here to yours truly, i do not wish to waste my time, when it is not appreciated.

replacement: what an ironic screen name for someone with your agenda...hope others see the humor...even here...just out of curiosity, what is keeping you and others of your ilk from just simply going away as you advocate?

As long as the canary is alive- when the "canary croaks" douse the smokes--We had carbide miner's lamps to smoke smudge the front sights of our M-1 Garands on both pre-qual and qual day MCRD--carbide reacts to water and produces a flammable gas, very much like acytelene--

Ed, your lack of comprehension of written English has prompted me to respond to your post. Just to clarify my previous post to you, I am not advocating anything. I merely posed a question to you.

Now to pose another question to you, what makes you think I have an agenda?

The gas carbide produces when wetted with water is not "like acetylene". It is acetylene.

fox: long ago, i went thru a long range high powered rifle shooting stage. i think we just used a zippo lighter to blacken our front sights... maybe not...hard to remember, as that was over 40 years ago.

did you say flammable gas, like acytelene?...now if i could just capture it and then of course control it...how exciting!

dave: are you still willin to part with dat can o carbide? if so, maybe i will get back to you.
