I bought a WW Greener hammergun several years ago from a friend. He had had the rib relaid and the barrels browned. After it sat in my safe a couple of years a dry substance started oozing from between the rib and the barrel. It looked like the white "foam" around the posts on a car battery. I know "ooze" and "dry substance" don't go together but that gives the best visual picture. Sent it to Kirk Merrington and he said that when the rib had been relaid they failed to clean the flux off properly. Nothing about pits though.

Best,

Mike

white foam like stuff sounds like rosin flux? rust colored stuff would be acid flux?
also, please do keep in mind that the premise of this thread is a question and not necessarily a claim...it is interesting how some seem so threatened by a simple question...

Ed, to answer the question posed by the title you put on this thread: "only if you stand in front of them".

And I still have that quart can of carbide, if you need it. Make me an offer....

Ed I've come to the conclusion that your nonsensical threads are not deserving of my one liners cool

A "promise"....how about a wager ?

I'll bet that If you keep clogging this place up with thread after thread of nonsense you won't be here much longer...
