read long ago that it may be dangerous to shoot old english sxs's. this concern is based on the claim that the english, unlike most others making guns, used an acid flux to flow the solder used in the barrel joining process. over the course of time, the acid continued to work on the barrel steel, to the point that it has become paper thin in spots, in the area between the ribs. has anyone experienced a barrel failure that may be due to this problem, or is it just myth?

If you are worried about Brit guns Ed, I'll make you a deal. Two JABC's for every old Brit gun you have. Then you can start a couple new threads--IS IT DANGEROUS TO SHOOT JABC's? and IS THIS THE CORRECT CCH FOR A JABC? grin

I have had Mr Ed on ignore but from the title of this discussion I did formulate an opinion. I have conclude that the only English gun I would be concerned about would be one sold or worked on by Mr. Ed
