Hello Buzz, got your PM, but thought I'd answer here. Yes indeed I have an Imperial. And yes mine is dovetailed also. I looked hard to see if I could find anything that would indicate Chopper Lumps, but could not. Regardless, the Imperial is in every sense a true Best gun. No doubt about it. It compares equal to my Purdey. The only thing going against the gun is the maker. Hussey is not well known to those outside the doublegun community, thus to many it's just another English gun. A friend of mine who is also a doublegunner was quite taken by my Purdey, yet when I showed him my Hussey his response was...."Who?" and just handed her back.
You have to admit, old H.J. was a rouge and a bit of a crook...but he sure made some fine guns, even if some may have been taken from H&H.
I have a few English Best guns, but my Hussey has a very special place in my heart!
