Gents: I just bought an Hussey Imperial 12 bore bar action sidelock, #14397. This gun is very nice considering it is 100 years old or there abouts. It has beautiful wood and is a 7-pin sidelock. The barrels are very nice and have greater than .030 minimum wall thickness. I was told by seller the barrels were of chopper lump construction, but after examination they are clearly of dovetail construction. I have a friend with a similar gun and his gun has dovetailed barrels as well. Both guns are Imperials. I am wondering if most if not all these Husseys are of dovetail rather than chopper lump?? This particular gun is very nice and I think I shall keep it despite the misinformation regarding the barrels, but I would like to know if any of these Hussey's had chopper lump barrels. Any ideas on this matter?
