Now that we are the subject of Dalys, I have a Chas. Daly O/U that is Italian but no maker. I believe it was sold in the early 70's. Anyone know who the maker is? [img:left]  [/img] Maybe Sabatti?? Italian guns have a date code. Should be Roman numerals if early 70's. That system ended with XXX in 1974. You can count backwards from there if it has a Roman numeral. Switched to 2 letters in 1975, starting with AA. But if you can't figure yours out, post the date code and someone will help you.

Gr2 has the round knob; GR3 capped grip like the Empire.

There are no ROman Numerals and no AA. However 178 is stamped on the bottom of the barrels, which I presume is the proof date.
Thereis an SGF* stamped on the Frame

Italians did not do proof dates that way. If there are no Roman numerals, then there should be a two letter date code somewhere. SGF might be a maker's mark. The standard Italian proofmark is PSF under a star.
