The dogs are roll stamps, it's a Field Grade.

Roy's auction reports show a restocked NID 16 sold for $450 in Nov., one listed as 'EX" condition for $950 in Sep. (of course it may have had hidden issues also), a restocked, reblued for $470 in July.
I think that $1000 for a reblued gun with a cracked stock that's been revarnished is high, but as I said, if he's happy....
