I think the reprint is the same as the first edtion. I should be getting one in a few weeks and I'll compare.
Volume two was not, and I doubt if it will be pubished(?)
I'll ask Dave.
If someone wanted an author signed copy I could put you in touch with David.

I picked up a new copy at Tulsa. I also have one of the originals (glad to know I'm not the only book junkie) - but I work out of it quite a bit. It has really good information for shaping. I think he spent quite a bit of time with Jack, oddly enough that's who taught me to stock. The instructions look VERY familiar!
The only difference I see is that the new dust jacket is black whereas the old one is green. I paid $50 and was glad to get it.

Probably a sacreligious suggestion, but a 3 or 4 chapter digital supplement could be written and sold without having to deal with the Everest of getting a book published these days. It might not take a whole second volume to cover stocking from a blank, since so much is covered in the first volume.

And I received a copy from Dave the other day with a very thoughtful inscription. In my opinion, comparing it with the first edition, the photo reproduction is excellent. Dave said there were a few photos in the sanding section he wasn't particularly pleased with.
As for Volume Two, I'll eat my words. The rough manuscript is completed, all of the photos shot and he has had a couple of publishers interested. Dave told me very frankly, he hasn't had the energy to take what he has has make it into a book. Time will tell..
Pro. Stockmaking is the most important and useful book on the subject since Alvin Linden's Samworth titles. Speaking of: Does anyone know if Linden's "In Preparation" piece on Krag rifles was ever published?
(In looking through the Samworth stuff I found a First Edition of Kennedy's Checkering & Carving I forgot I had!?!)

Please pass on to Dave that many folks are eagerly awaiting Volume Two! I am headed to the big chair by the woodstove for a read of Volume One.
