South Dakota Pheasant? Anyone hunted in mid-SD this year? How did it look? Are crops generally harvested?

I was in SD for the opener - 45 mins east of Pierre, all private land.
11 guys. Took us 2 hours to limit out on Sat & Sun.
Not as many birds as last year, but still plenty of birds.
A lot of the crops were out, but not all. Still lots of standing corn.

Hunted opening weekend out of Mitchell with Outfitter "Dakota Trackers". 15 in group and limited out each of 3 days. 4th day two of us hunted state land and raised 8 rousters. Birds are way down in the east and 46% off overall. Still great pheasant hunting!! Bob Jurewicz

Hunted last week about 50 miles south of Peirre and had plenty of birds. We limited every day in less than 4 hours. Corn and beans are mostly harvested; much milo and cane still standing. JERRY

Hunted just south of Aberdeen. Lots of water all over that part of South Dakota and from what I could see from the plane, there was water in sections of the state that I've never seen water in. General consensus of the locals - "Bad year". Tough Winter followed by a very wet Summer dropped numbers significantly. Didn't see a single Rooster in the road ditches. I've never had that happen before. Limited out, but took a lot of hunting to do so.

OWD-I am going to the Miller area. At least I am staying at a motel there. We hunt west and south of Miller. I heard very mixed reports about the area. Were you on a lease or on a guided hunt?
Thanks...Mike
