My next SSM column is about the Manufrance Ideal, but not that one.

Steve- I don't think it's insulting - nor was it meant to be insulting. Actually the gun was not really "Americanized" because then it would have had a single trigger.

Typically Americans like to configure guns with ST; beavertail forend and PG stocks. (and polyurethane and 3 1/2-inch chambers but that's another thing)

It is not a configuration I like nor would I own one but it isn't insulting and I'm sure it wasn't meant to be.

Would it have been "Europeanized" if it had sling swivels, a cheek piece, and 2 inch chambers?? grin grin

Inside every b-tail is a splinter waiting to get out. I can't see the ventral view; did installing the big handle disable the lever that slides/unlatches the forend? I thought nickel plate and scrubbing the checkering was the Murcan thing to do.

It looks like the forend lever is right where it belongs, making a nice speed bump on the beavertail; looks like hell.

I'm hoping that whoever did that, saved the splinter.

At least they didn't turn it into a coach gun.

What about the new top rib? Some harm, lots of foul.

LOL, sorry, I'm, laughing at my own comment and it's not really that funny. The gun must have done something to me.

It is not just the fore end which has been screwed up. Note the vent rib addition. I looked at that gun long ago and tried to figure out what cold be done to undo the Americanization of it. Not that hard to redo the fore end back to a splinter. But that vent rib was a major stopper. How hard to get it off and restore whats is under it? Afraid that one is past restoration.
