Wonderfull job on the checkering. So, where does one get krazy glue in quantities sufficient to do this, and, if it works in checkering, would it make a good sealer for the whole stock??

Thanks Mike. Your Wonderful post is a big help to me. I started by repointing some of my old guns and found I enjoyed it. I then started refinishing some stocks and decided to repoint before working on the stocks so that I could save the old lines figuring I could do a final repointing after finishing. That has worked out well.
I am now starting from scratch on an old stock that had no useful lines salvageable. Your post is a huge help and is appreciated.
As I get older, I find that my terrific eyesight is not what it used to be even when using those magnifying reading glasses I was picking up at Costco.
I have been using one of those black magnifiers with the strap that goes around your head that you see on a lot of gun shop sites. It gives me a headache half the time. I think those clip ons that you show in the picture would be helpful. Can you tell me where you got them since I have never seen them in stores. Also, do they have different focal lengths so you don't have to have your nose in the stock while working.
Thanks, Milt

Milt, I happen to recognize them from another application: You should be able to get a pair at a flyfishing store. They work very well to convert polaroids or distance glasses into close-ups, like tie-on-your-fly close, at a flip. They're available in a variety of diopter strengths.

Milt; You can get the clip-ons from various sources, but I don't think you'll beat this place at $12 a pair.... http://www.lifewithease.com/magniclips.htmlUnfortunately, the focal length is < 6 inches so you do have to crowd the work. But the instant flip-up is very convenient; I wear them the whole time I'm in the shop. It's so neat to have 8X vision at my fingertips, I find myself using them to look at small parts even when I don't really need them. Cody; I don't know about CA glue, but Mark Stokeld has an article on this site about using acraglass (2-part epoxy) as a finish/sealer. http://doublegunshop.com/stokeld1.htm
