One of the interesting side competitions:

American Classics Team Challenge (Three Day Event!):

Shooters will be classified by the manufacturer of their American-made gun. You can re-enter as often as you like, with your highest scores counted toward qualifying for the final team. At the end of the Fall Classic, the top five scores will be added together for a team score for each make of gun, with the highest combined score being named the winner. So bring your Parker Brothers, L.C. Smith, A.H. Fox, Ithaca or RBL. The only requirement is that the gun was manufactured in the United States.

Weather forecast looks nice for the weekend.

High of 70 degrees daytime, 40's overnight. Sunny with no rain.

Sounds fantastic after the tough weather we had at last month's Vintage Cup.

I'm going down a couple days early and just booked a 3 star oceanfront resort room in Myrtle Beach for $38/night on Hotwire.com, so there are some good offseason rates nearby if you want to add vacation days to your trip.

Once again, this year's Fall Southern was a thoroughly enjoyable event. Weather was near perfect. Targets were fun and interesting. Hospitality, including full southern buffets with BBQ & Chicken and an oyster shucking in the evening made for a great time. There were twenty different stations (10 big bore, 10 small) on the course. It was great to see all the young kids working as trappers and taking an interest in the sport. Good selection of vendors and guns, even though a couple had to pull out at the last minute.

Nice to get to spend some time with you again, Daryl, and see your beautiful doubles.

I agree about the event. It was first class. I think I enjoyed it more than last year. The trappers were the best, and most courteous I have EVER seen at a sporting clay event, and I've shot a lot. That doesn't just happen. Rick is responsible for that, and he did well.

Good to meet new people and make new friends, too. Enjoyed spending time with Mr. and Mrs. FlyChamp. Great folks, all.

Stan, it was really nice to meet you.

Daryl, good to see you again even if it had only been a month.

I shot like S***, even worse than normal.

Judy, on the other hand, was high lady.

Much fun was had by all.

Some of the results have been posted:

Also, there is a notice on the Backwoods Quail Club website that they will be hosting the 2013 US Open Sporting Clays Championships - which does include a Side by Side class.
