Hi guys, I know, I'm probably completely mad. I've bought this and it needs a lot of work. It dates from around 1870. I've always wanted a Purdey. I hope to finish this and leave it to my son. It needs re-stocking. It hasn't been looked after however the barrels are 26-27 though and do need work to take a few minor dents out and bores polished. I'm also going to have the bores taken to 2 3/4 chambers too. It is currently out of proof so I have transported it under RFD to my barrel man. I hope it passes proof. If it does I can start to get to work on it...if it doesn't well I've lost a few quid.
The barrels are damascus under all that crap and there is no streaking in the action as you can sometimes see in older hammer gun actions. Someone dropped it on the trigger guard too...dear oh dear!
I'm sorry the pictures are not up to my usual standard but I wanted to get this into my barrel man in Price Street asap. These are from my iPhone.
All the best,
Regards,
Tony
