Joe sorry I only have really rough, bare WWII replacement 03A3 bolts! Mike I want('need' would be facetious, grin):
smooth-body 1903 Springfield bolt body, bent is OK2 ea 1903 milled followers
trapdoor Springfield bridle or complete lock
low wall parts or abandoned projects
Krag 1896 action or sporterized rifle, sorry no 1898s

Kahles older 1" OD 2.5x scope with Euro post, VG optically but some tube wear
Jaeger 1" NOS side scope mount, never installed, with fitted base plate

I was opting for a 16-18" barrel to get full powder burn, or close to full burn any way. You might be surprised how well it will shoot. I don't have any pictures illustrating the bore, but it does give guys at the range something to wonder about if they notice the muzzle before you start shooting.

Brent is right on the money here. I bored the larger #2 to 11/16" for more all-up weight (match rifle) and the smaller #1 to as large as I could get it for less weight (sporter). I used a 24" Mauser 22LR orphan barrel cut into 2 10" lengths and epoxied in place. Clymer match-dimension chambers in both.
The #2 rifle is almost ridiculously accurate compared to my earlier efforts but it also has several other accuracy-enhancing mods including top ignition, negative headspace, single-side extraction and a new hammer made of unobtainium (grin).
It's mighty ugly (my rifle) but it shoots mighty well.

Later edit: 2 reasons for the short liners, A)only one orphan bbl for 2 projects and B)my whole idea was to severely limit the barrel time of the bullet, to avoid shooter holding technique error on my part.

I've got an 03 bolt that some knucklehead wrote "low # bolt" on it with an electric pencil. It should polish out. Let me know if your interested.

Niedner decided 7 1/2" was right for the .22-short.   Remember don't try this at home, it's a NFA short barreled rifle.

Why did you go with side extraction given a 12 o'clock ignition?
I'm not sure what the jury has said, if anything about top ignition, but it does interest me.
I too have the unobtainium hammer (short fall - ~1/8") and it is double sprung.

Brent, I thought that I'd leave the barrels ugly exterior as is, that would get some attention if it shoots at all well, when fired do they make that distinctive Bloop tube sound? Very nice looking Low Wall, did you make the clamp on palm rest, I just found this yesterday in The Ideal Handbook of useful information for Shooters reprint... Look familiar? Mike

I have a smooth '03 bolt body. I think it's an 03A3 as it's stamped 'R' on the bottom side of the handle root.
Someone ground a bit of relief to the forward edge of the horizontal section of the handle and the front ot that area. Didn't touch the cam. Some light back and forth Dremel polish marks on it to brighten it at one time.
Maybe a welder like yourself can fix it up easily. The handle has the slight bend to the rear.
(I know little about these!)
I can't use it for anything,,you can have it if you want it.

Well, live everything on that rifle, a couple of people made that palm rest for me. A wood turner made the wood out of a very heavy hunk of Sonoran Desert Ironwood. Another friend made the metal insert that is very similar to the one in your advertisement.
Once upon a time, I counted up the number of people that had a hand in this rifle and it was well into the double figures - and it's not even engraved. Our own JD Steele was the source of the action and some work on it and some advice as well. And the omnipresent Glenn Fewless and another buddy teamed up for the super-speed hammer made of unobtainium. And there were many other people involved around the country. It has a crescent buttplate to replace the small swiss with the situation calls for it and several different sighting mechanisms. The only parts I did were all the metal polishing and the barrel bluing and the wood finishing. It is, by far, my favorite rifle.
