thanks for the offer to post a photo here but I took it over to my local gunmaker a few days after getting it, for him to check it out as the bore of the rifle looked so good to me that I thought to leave it as original and trade it on. He said he would check the head space and measure the bore as I didn't want to trade it on if it wasn't safe to use.
From the state of the outside of the rifle I was expecting the barrel to be shot out.
It did say on the barrel Cal. 308 and also where the British proof marks are on the barrel.
There were no proof marks on the action itself though which I found rather strange as all my other rifles which were sold in the UK have.
This was an impulse buy because it was cheap and a Springfield action which some of you guys tend to rave about but I had never handled.
It also has a red knackered butt pad with Churchill Gunmakers London on it.
