I had a buddy (rest his soul) who owned a Jag which never met a repair shop it didn't like to visit (often). "Having this car is like being married to Raquel Welch but with her having an incurable STD (more colorful term omitted)" he once said. Final straw was on the way to Hilton Head when smoke started pouring out from under the hood. He begged the volunteer fire department to let it burn itself out on the road shoulder. No shotguns were harmed in the fire.

At least Range Rover always has the needs of shotgun enthusiasts in mind:

One family in my neighborhod has two Land Rovers and they seem to be constantly tinkering with them.
I assume everyone on this forum knows why the Brits drink warm beer? Well It's because they have Lucas refigerators of course!!

I've had a bunch of vintage British cars and motorcycles (a long time ago). Lets see now:
a 1958 Matchless 650 twin
a 1961 Norton Atlas 750 twin
a Triumph 200 single
several British parts bikes
a 1959 Nash Metropolition
a 1959 Triumph TR3
a 1962(?) Trimph TR4
a 1962(?) Trimph TR4a
a 1965 Austin Healy Sprite
These motorcycles and cars all had several things in common,
When they were good they were very very good, when they were bad they were horrid... and they were all bad alot, but with constant maintenance and servicing they could be kept running.

PS I nearly fogot, a nod to Lucas electronics, the Lord of Darkness whose motto was "Get home before dark!"

I have gone down the Italian sports car route. Fun to drive and always gets looks. Even in Houston, 4 th largest city, only a couple of people can work on them. Repair costs, like getting screwed with you pants.
