Vaseline has zero film strength, but it collects dirt nicely.

Any high quality, high performance grease is fine, but one with a pressure additive like moly that actually gets down in the pores of the metal and "plates" over theses microscopic pores is best. A high performance gear oil with moly in 140 weight is also very good
