I need to locate a good condition eyepiece for this scope. I've had limited experience with them. Are they comparable in quality to the Alaskan?

Bill: They have surprisingly good lens[CLEAR OPTICS],and the exterior of the blued steel tube was comparable. Where I found them inferior to the Alaskans were in the reticles, the waterproofing and ESPECIALLY the adjustments. I see damaged parts scopes listed on ebay all the time. GOOD LUCK Jerry

There is a seller on eBay by the name of iblamemydog who has had repro leather caps for the Alaskan for sale -- none currently though.

I know a guy who does really good custom work and is going to recreate the scope case and caps that came with my Sedgley. Let me know if you'd like his contact info.

I found that with some serious polishing and repeated cold blue application I could get by very well with the existing eyepiece. Thanks for the response.

Which Texan 2.5X scope do you have, one of the two (a .750" & a 1" tube, 1953-1957/58) made by Norman-Ford of Tyler, TX. or the one (a 1" tube, 1958-1964) made by Sovereign Instrument Co. of Dallas, TX?

Only the Norman-Ford JR. Texan 3X had a .875"/22mm tube.

Don, The scope I have is the 7/8" tube, 2 1/2X. When I saw it on a show table, I thought at first it was an Alaskan. The price turned out to be so reasonable I bought it anyway. It has extremely fine crosshairs and as small a dot reticle as I've ever seen.
