I was looking at a nice BLE English gun with 30 inch Damascus brls. The left brl has a Teague choke installed and I was wondering if this has any downside effect on the worth of the gun. I am guessing it was put in to give it a tighter left brl. Any comments appreciated.

IMHO it would be worth less with the teague choke. There are plenty of good English boxlocks out there with 'no problem' barrels.

Does the extra utility of the adjustability of the left choke outweigh the/your bias against choke tubes? That is to say, this gun is a shooter, not a collector. So, the economic issue is small. Likewise, the shootability issue is generally small (unless you are talking a highly specialized gun).

Thanks for the imput. I guess I have not been a fan of choke tubes. This gun would classify as a collector. Seems every time you buy something that is a little different than the norm you cannot get rid of it if you don't like it.
