Revisiting an old project. I had made v-springs for a standard boxlock. Originally, the springs I made were too weak. Sears and hammers mated perfectly with the weak springs.
I pulled the springs and fixed them properly. The springs are pleanty strong now, but one sear no longer engages the hammer properly. Everything is in the same location as it was when the sears were engaging properly, but one sear will not engage at all.
I checked for burrs in the holes in the hammers and on the pins, nothing.
The pins roll true, so I don't think they are bent.
Could part of the spring be keeping the hammer from moving the last 1/64th of an inch?
Any other ideas on what could have gone wrong?
I really don't want to work on the hammer/sear engagement, as it was working fine with the weaker springs.
Thanks for any ideas.
